He's here!

Tall Man in some mismatched newborn duds! I can't believe I have a BOY!

Big sisters meet him for the first time.

"Aww Dad!"

Meet Joseph Gregory John!
Born Friday, May 21
8 pounds, 20.5 inches long

He entered into the world swiftly, soundly and, most importantly, safely, at home in a planned homebirth. Labor began around 6 pm, and he was born at 9:30 pm... although, much of the "work" of labor had been done throughout the last month. Lots of contractions, lots of convincing "this must be labor" moments. Turns out, that's pretty normal for moms in their third, fourth, fifth, etc., pregnancies. Very frustrating, but in the end, I was blessed with a fast (and furious) birth! hehehe.

I'm doing well, trying to rest as much as I can. Joseph is doing wonderfully-- glory to God! We are so incredibly thankful. In fact, he's already surpassed his original birth weight by 1 oz. Yesterday he weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz., at just one week old!

Sorry for the boasting... I'm just so thankful for our sweet baby. Job and the girls are holding up well, they all are "gaga" over this little man. Job calls him "Tall Man", as he is a very long baby :)

He's very, very calm and mellow! He just "meows" like a kitten when he's hungry :) We'll see if it lasts... :)

His patron saint will be St. Joseph the Betrothed (with a special nod to Elder Joseph the Hesychast, a "contemporary" Father who is not yet universally canonized).
