Nicknames

Nicknames... Most of the time, I don't know how they originate or where they come from. Both Job and I come from families of prolific "nicknamers." This is a brainless post, but if you're bored and looking for a peek into the inner depths of our bizarre family, then keep reading! If nothing else, I wanted to write these down for posterity in case I forget once the new barrage of nicknames regenerates (and they seem to do that every few months or so)

Job (aka Steve):

Joby
Scoby
Scobe
Papa
"James" (when he's playing 'Thomas the Tank Engine' with the girls, he is always James)
Daddy

Me:

Mommy
Mama
Pea (this name, of course, is the abbreviated version of "Sweet Pea")
Fall Pea (anytime I wear "fall clothes", it reminds Job of our dating days in college-- we started dating during November)
"_______" Mommy.... (Vasi often pretends she is a certain storybook character, and when she does, I am called "so and so's Mommy." I.E. Olivia's Mommy, Ellie's Mommy, or, in Madeline's case, Miss Clavel).

Vasi:

Lossy (this is how she pronounced her name at age 2)
Los Dos
L-Dos
Lili Bee
Lili Jo
Vas (pronounced Voss)
Big Sister
Sue (believe it not... we called Vasi "Vasi Sue" for the longest time... now that we have a "Susy", not so much :D)

Susy:
Dooze
Doozy
Duseldorf
Snicklefritz
Little Larry (she looks like her late Grandpa Larry, which is sweet :D)
Ooey
MonCheeChee
MawBabe (she used to make a "Maww! Maww!" moaning sound when she was a tiny baby)
Toot (V.'s most recent christening...)/ Toot Toot
Eesh/ Eesha/ Eeshketball
Sissy
Miss Chub or Miss Tuv (her cousins call her this... I have a feeling it won't disappear anytime soon-- maybe they can foot her counseling bill in 14 years? :D)

Both girls are often referred to as:

Chews/ Chewies/ Sweet Chews/ Chewberts
Chumbullahs
"Mia"/ "Ia"
Squish
Lambs
Destroyer of Worlds

Midnight:

Mia J. Cat (sometimes we omit the "J." and/or the "Cat")
Smeesh
Mid/ Midi
Meed
Tetten
Clump
Christopher Bunnyfur (Bunnyfur for the soft, fluffy white hair on her chest)
Jennifer Bunnyfur
"Ditty" (Susy)
Raisin Brain
Moon
Moon Eyes
Nightmare (my dad gave her this name)

How about you? Any weird nicknames that have "stuck" for you or your family?

Hi Katie!

Nice to see a little glimpse of your life!

This is very fun. We are nickname mad over here, as well. In fact, everyone calls our Benjamin, "Banjo" because Jer thought his name sounded like Banjoman even before he was born. So tomorrow he'll be 9(!) and we still call him that.

i've been calling james' soon-to-be baby 'buzz' because his initials spell bee, benjamin elliot eubank.

When children 1 2 and 3 were babies they got called: Honey Muffin
Pumpkindoodle
StinkusWinkusPatinkus...repspectively.

I can't remember if baby #4 had a nickname.

Nothing stuck past the baby stage.

I get called "Ma" by one of my kids, rather than "Mom" which always surprises me and I have to just accept as permanent.

I've always wanted a nick name but never earned one.

My husband's nickname is Wes, which is both short for his full name, Wesley, and also the pronounciation of all his initials.

I know what a MonCheeChee is. They were popular when I was a kid in Switzerland.
