Can you guess the theme of this baby quilt I made? Each patch was hand-embroidered, then sewn together with other fabric.

(this is just a detail of the back flannel that I used)I finished this quilt back in August for my dear friend, who just gave birth a few weeks ago :D Welcome Maddy!!! Unfortunately this was the best I could do as far as photos go. I didn't think to take pictures until in the car, on the way to the baby shower! So, it's not the best but it's the best I could manage :D
SO... any guesses as to what my theme was?? No cheating, if I already told you :D

dont know the theme Katie, but it so reminds me of my grandma, who always made quilt, and always embroidered
wow, mom, thought you would get it - yellow submarine? strawberry fields? octopus garden? blackbird? beatles is my guess! what a great baby quilt theme!! I just started embroidering - it is fun! nice job!
Well, duh...Of course being in High School in the 60's: Yellow Submarine, Strawberry Fields, Octopus' Garden, etc. Very cool! I love it. I hope you'll make a CD to go with the quilt. :)
I so "heart" that octopus !
Oooooooh! Beatles songs! I want one!
Absolutely lovely.
I guess its alzheimers coming on...I kept looking and thinking of nursery rhymes!
I was a child of the 60's dont you know!!
Ha, well everyone guessed but I knew when I saw that Yellow Submarine that it must be Beatles! Even as I am listening to Eleanor Rigby on Pandora!
Great work on the embroidery and I love the border fabric & the flannel back, what a sweet gift!
ANother beautiful creation! Wish I had your artistic talent and creativity!
Nice work everyone! Kudos to Katbat, who got it first! S-P, looks like you weren't too far off in your reply, either :D
I'm glad to see so many faithful readers are Beatles-literate. :D
It was a really fun quilt to make; my friend Amy and I grew up loving the Beatles. We'd listen to her parents original Beatles records throughout Jr. High-- great memories!
More quilts/ crafts to come!
My quiiiilt!!! I keep it on the rocking chair that I rock Maddy in at night when I'm praying she will give in to her sleepy side :)
Its the perfect spot for it because I don't want it to be one of the blankets I throw on the floor or that she spits up on :) It is going to be her "special blankie" for years and years!
Your quilts with embroidered squares remind me of many that our church made for babies. Each of us, excepting the woman having the baby, would embroider a square, and some of us would sew them all into the finished product. If I had been blogging in those days, I'd have photos of all the designs I came up with!
