WOW! That's all I can say. THANK YOU to EVERYONE who answered my question last week! Now I truly have no excuse for skimping on hospitality, or panicking at the thought of it. Your suggestions were not only helpful; they made my mouth water... MMMM!

Like always, I need to work on my organization; planning ahead and making note of potlucks after evening services; thinking of others in need before I make my grocery list so I have enough food for an extra meal to give away. Here's a funny memory... when I was growing up, anytime there'd be good food in the fridge or cupboards, we kids always assumed it was for someone else. "Can we eat this? Is this for us?" In my memories, it seemed my mom's reply was more often than not "No, it's for (insert name)." But then, I probably have a somewhat skewed memory bank. And although it might make me sound like a deprived child, I certainly was not. Perhaps my mom's practice of saving food for others, or putting others above ourselves, was a good lesson for me to learn as a child. I certainly should practice it more myself!

So thanks again!

OH, and guess who returned home just a few hours after I posted my last blog? You guessed it; MIDNIGHT. "Oh the cat came back, he wouldn't stay away, sitting on the porch on the very next day..." We're glad she's safe here with us, the little stinker.Photo by Vasi. Of course. She's the only one who photographs the cat washing herself. Plus, kids are the only ones who would take a picture of a messy living room... definitely not a mom thing. :)

That apple looks perfectly sweet and crisp! I'm still waiting for good deals on local and in-season apples down here...I feel like I keep waiting and waiting.

Glad your cat returned! And I'm with you on needing help in the planning ahead for hospitality area. We live and learn!

Yum! That apple looks fantastic. What a beautiful lesson for your mom to have taught you!

And, bwhahahahahaha, I LOVE Vasi's photo! That's real life around here (well we don't tend to have toys anymore, just stuff)

Remember, that's not messy...it is lived in!

Glad the kitty came home.

My cat spent the night stuck on the garage roof recently... I am very glad yours came home from wherever she was.

And - lol - an adult would have tidied up and lost the photo opportunity entirely.
