Last night was Steve's (future business) office party. He's been hired at a small accounting firm, and he'll start in May after he graduates. But we were invited to the Christmas party, so we decided to go.
Seeing that the invitation said, "Holiday attire," I was a bit confused. I've never really looked favorably on holiday clothing. Of course there's my dad's red and green felt "Christmas bowtie" that he's had since the 70s, but that's about it.
So, I settled on my good ol' standby-- the "little" black dress (not so little, don't worry). I wore it to my brother-and-sister-in-law's wedding, I've worn it to work-- it's great for any occassion. Yesterday after work, I squeezed myself into the dress. It's funny, before I was pregnant, I was always self-concious in the dress because it sort of pooches out in the belly area, and I was always afraid people would think I was pregnant. Well, fortunately this pooch of fabric in the tummy now helps the dress serve as semi-formal maternity attire.
I added some bright red tights that I got last year, and--boom!--"holiday attire."
The dinner was very nice--there was plenty of vegan/vegetarian options for Job, which was good. I got a slab of roast beef, but didn't touch it b/c it was a brighter shade of red than my holiday tights. Ah!
The entertainment for the evening was a murder mystery dinner theater. I was sort of dreading it all, but it actually made for a fun evening. I mean, it takes talent to stay in character for over an hour while interacting with a bunch of people. Job and I met some really nice people that he'll be working with. AND... we even "won" honorary detective certificates, because we guessed correctly on who the "murderer" was for the evening. We'll be framing them promptly. ;)
It's a beautiful, chilly morning and once more I'm wondering why the heck I'm indoors. I should be outside, going for a walk. BUT I'll probably go do the 2-day old dishes and other household things instead.
I hope you're all doing well! God bless!

It was a lot of fun last night and the people that work for DWCC (DeLap, White, Coldwell, and Croy LLP) are great.
What fun! - I think it was great your company included you- a great way to get to know Steve's future workmates!!
That's such an awesome night, I'm glad you had a good time.
I'm a fan of the little black dress plan, myself!
Sounds like fun...I've heard those dinners are entertaining. I love the tights...I'm a tights girl, myself. Hey, I didn't know Job has a blog!!
I just realized I called my husband two different names in this post. Steve/Job-- you know who I'm talking about, right? haha. Normally I try to be consistent, but that's what I get for partying all night. haha, jk.
Mimi,
yes, I must confess I was inspired by your "barberella" photo! Without that, I really didn't know what people wore to these things :D
Sara,
Well... he DOES have a blog, but if you visit Karl's megablog, you'll find it is listed under "Blogs on Life Support." :D So, needless to say, his bought with blogging was short and sweet (not that I haven't tried to get him to start again!).
I'm always calling Paul two different names (his legal name is rob). I was at his work christmas party last year and i kept slipping up and calling him paul and one of his co-workers wondered if i had two husbands:)
I must confess I was inspired by your "barberella" photo! Without that, I really didn't know what people wore to these things :D
Thanks! I'm glad I could help!
I admit I was a bit confused as to who Steve was, thanks for clarifying.
Hey, Dawn, Presbytera Elizabeth and I are talking about getting together in January probably in your neck of the woods - are you in?
