Wahoo! Week 2 of MeMadeMay'14. Here's my weekly round-up of self-made garments worn throughout the week.

Fuzzy Smartphone pic
Another button-up, made from Grainline's Archer pattern. I made 3 of these all at once, assembly-style. I haven't worn my gingham shirt yet, but I'll try and work that in this next week. The jeans are patched by me. Does that count as "refashioned"? Maybe just recycled? :)

"Mom's Night": meeting a buddy for dinner
A simple shift (Colette Laurel) that I made in January, but hadn't worn until this week. MMMay has been a positive challenge, in that it drives me to put seldom-worn items into daily use. Job really liked this dress-- thanks, Sweets!

Off to Saturday night Vespers
A Tova tunic! I love this, it's so breezy. It's made from some lightweight, linen-ish fabric that I got at a garage sale down the street a few summers ago. Finding vintage fabrics is the besssst!

Mother's Day!
For Mother's Day, I wore this dress to Church, and then out to lunch with my sweet crew. It's a Colette Oolong from 2011 (I think?). So happy to fit back into some of my old clothes!!! But even happier to be a MOM! See my rubber-band-loom jewelry I'm wearing? I felt showered with love by my sweet and talented kiddos!!

Zoo Day!
My sister invited me and the little ones to the zoo Monday. So, I wore my re-fashioned "wild animal" sweatshirt. I made this two or three years ago, using SoZo's instructions
here as an outline. Again, I'm glad I can fit into it now. I really love the fit, and the concept just makes me laugh. I like a little irony now and then.

Wild Animal detail. The bobcat's head got cut off in the refashion, but oh well.
|
Hippie Jumper! Off for an evening of grocery shopping.
I made this simple dress in February. I was hoping it'd be a good dress/jumper/ pinafore for layering during Lenten services (leggings, cardigan, undershirt, etc.). But the skirt ended up being too constricting, so I had to add slits up the side. Note: my slip is showing. So, maybe not too great for Lent, but a good summer frock nonetheless. I think it'll get worn a lot in the next few months. I found the pattern at Value Village:
Simplicity 5954.

Today: Mid-Pentecost Liturgy, a "Tea" at my girls' school, and then keeping cool with the kids on this hot Wednesday!
And finally, today. This is the best pic I could come up with; a fuzzy smartphone shot, taken by my 8-year old. This skirt is the
Gabriola skirt again, which I really love. It deserves some better documentation here on this blog-- I haven't portrayed this version very well so far. Needless to say, it gets worn a lot and is super comfortable.
I'm still enjoying this challenge, but I'm feeling pretty egotistical with all of these pictures of ME. Please forgive me! Hopefully the take-away is: Making clothes is rewarding and fun :D I hope you are well!
