Wha's happenin'?

I've been bad about documenting my crafting creations!  Usually my items go straight from the sewing machine into a gift bag and gone for good.  This happens to be a baby quilt I managed to snap a picture of just in time.  As you can see, I don't really add binding to my quilts anymore.  I just do the old inside-out-and-topstitch trick.  I know it's lazy quilting, but it's a corner I'm willing to cut, and it has added years to my life!  hahah :D

More crafting pics to come, hopefully!
A quick shot of my eldest and youngest, just before the school year got out (you can tell, since she's still in her school uniform).  J. was enjoying the story (or at least sitting quietly) BEFORE I started taking photos.  Of course by the time I'd gotten the camera to capture the precious moment, he'd had his fill and wanting OUT.  Oh well!

So what's been going on in our neck of the woods?

SUMMER!

RIght now, I am...
:: feeling quite tired, hot and bloated-- must be pregnant in July!
:: thinking  a blog post might not be the best use of my time... these always take longer than I realize
:: appreciating ice cream and popsicles, tall glasses of water-- anything that keeps me cool!
:: anticipating a full day tomorrow, helping watch my niece and nephew.  Also, I'll be praying for my mom, who has knee surgery in the morning.  I'm hoping all goes well for her, because she really is the absolute best!  Love you, Marm!
:: reminding myself to go in for my gestational diabetes lab test (let's hope my ice cream intake isn't increasing my chances... eek!)
:: wondering what this baby will be like?   What will her name be?  (still not sure yet, in true X.K. fashion!)
:: hoping to get a pair of Quick Change Trousers (sorry, there's no direct link, but this'll do) sewn up tonight... the third pair I've made this week-- gifts for friends.  (I am LOVING this book, by Anna Maria Horner!)
:: getting HA-YOOOOGE!  Most strangers assume/comment that I'm 'bout ready to pop.  They're shocked when I respond that I'm not due until late September.  Only one person has mentioned otherwise; a new neighbor I just met tonight during my walk.  I don't know if she was just being polite, or if she has years and years of personal or professional experience in the way of growing babies-- either way, she made my day!  hahaha.
:: planning on soaking my swollen feet in some cold water, either before or after I do the dishes.  I won't be soaking my feet in the dishwater, though.  I just want to make that clear.
:: loving summer time and having the kids home!  And summer evenings are hard to beat, with tired out kiddos tucked into bed, and watching the sun set out our back window.
:: looking at my messy office/ sewing room... hoping to change that in the near future.
:: hearing the hum of the computer-- it's a fairly quiet night!  Or wait, I do hear the sink full of dishes haunting me, teasing me, all the way from the kitchen.
:: remembering that I need to go empty my bladder.... AGAIN.
:: wishing it weren't already 10:46 pm...!
:: knowing I can't stay up late tonight... must go to bed early!!!!  And there's still a lot to clean up/ accomplish before bed.
:: wanting to watch this again-- such a sweet movie!
:: thinking of my grandparents.  This hot summer weather has me a bit nostalgic for childhood summer visits to their home.  I'm itching to get a patio set so that we can eat dinner outside, just like we'd do at their house "Dinner on Deck" as my grandma would call it.  Sometimes I find excuses to drive all the way across town, just so I can drive past their old house.  May their memory be eternal!

Sorry for all of the italicized/ underlined inconsistencies.  I'm a loser when it comes to getting this stuff right!

So fantastic to see you, even if it was brief! Love the photo of the kids, and the quilt. You are amazing.

Her name? :)

So excited for you having another one! I think we are done unless God gives us another surprise like He did with Querina (#3, Dec. 2010).

Elizabeth,
Thanks so much! I'm glad today is a bit overcast, with a slightly cool breeze. Definitely a nice little break from the blazing heat!

Mimi,
Thank you! It was good to see you too :) How are your sewing lessons going?

Phronsie,
No name yet to speak of! I'm pretty slow when it comes to naming. If we're lucky, we'll have decided on something by the time she's here! Congrats on Querina! I didn't know! Three is fun, eh?
