Daaaaang

So, a few things have me scratching my head and letting out a long, breathy, Napoleon-esque "Daaaaang."

- I am having difficulty commenting on other people's blogger blogs. I keep trying and trying, and for some reason it won't happen. It just makes me so angry at this whole "new blogger" Google monopoly. Grrrr. Please know that I enjoy reading your blogs, and I have tried to comment several times, but to no avail. Especially my prego friends, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm so excited for your upcoming arrivals!

- Forgot my favorite coffee mug at the park on Tuesday, and now it's gone.

- The wonderful red shoes I received last week hurt my feet. I think this is the biggest bummer. They fit beautifully at first, then I think they got a bit stretched with each wear. Now the backs of the shoe cut into my ankle. I thought I just needed to break them in and tough out the chaffing, but it's not just chaffing, it's DIGGING/SLICING/DICING. So, I'll go find some inserts that will lift my ankle a little and see if that works. If it doesn't, I'm either going to have to return them or sell them on craigslist. boo hisss.

- Last night I ate dinner at my godmother's house. Her husband jokingly asked me if I was pregnant again, not because of my weight or behavior (hopefully), but just because "it's about that time" now that V. is a year old. I thought it was funny, and kind of true. I'm a bit dumbfounded that it hasn't happened yet. I mean, I am THANKFUL because, well, just because. And I know it will happen in due time.

I guess that since we had gotten pregnant so quickly after we got married, I'd expected it to happen quickly again. But V. is still going strong with breastfeeding, and still does so once or twice at night. So you know, that's our "birth control," and it's turning out to be much more successful than we anticipated. It's just strange to see other women who had been pregnant with me (or even a few months behind me) already be pregnant again with #2. It's weird to be "ready" for my 2nd pregnancy, yet having nothing happen. It is a mixed blessing, I suppose. Natural spacing is working to our advantage, despite all the skeptical looks and comments I received from inquiring minds (including all my midwife and clinic nurses). Every woman is different, ay?

BUT despite all of these confounding things, I have a LOT to be thankful for and happy about. I'm looking forward to this Mother's Day weekend and spending time with family and getting extra hugs and kisses from my sweet Job and Vasilia.
I am truly, truly blessed.

(Oh, and go check out Alana's post today regarding the Theotokos... beautifully written and very inspiring. And here's the link I forgot to include in my last post~thanks Mimi. And Sara, the Wonder Wash holds 5 lbs. of clothing. It's great for cloth diapers if you do those with your babies)

V will be a big sister before you know it!

Off to look at the shoes. Sorry about the Starbucks mug (although if it helps, I had one like that that separated, they said they've been having that problem, so it just got lost before it got separated, look at it that way).

I find the new Google/Blogger very touchy about commenting.

oooh, and have you tried bandaids on your ankles until they break in?
The other thing I've had good luck with is stretching with a wet washcloth.

Hmm, 5 pounds, eh? Pretty nice.

I have that same exact mug...Aaron just reminded me about it the other day because it had gotten stuck behind some others on the shelf. Sorry you lost it. It DOES have a nice shape and weight thing going on.

It's funny you say that about feeling like being "ready" again. That's exactly when I've gotten pregnant with the next...whenever it happes, it will e the perfect time :)

Hope you have a good Mother's day!

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself--I've been reading you off and on for awhile, I found you through Mimi. You can see my journal--I'm Orthodox and live in Seattle.

I was was going to comment that I had a pair of shoes once that followed the exact same pattern (comfy at first, then very painful, cutting into the heel), and they got comfortable again and I wore them for years. So it might work out yet.

Also, regarding the washer you mentioned in your last post--does it really work well?? That sounds like such an amazing alternative.
