How can a year have gone by so quickly?
When women in the grocery store told me that "it goes by quickly," once they saw my teeny tiny newborn curled up in her sling, I didn't really believe them.
All I could think about were the wakeful nights and the screaming fits during car rides... and two fretful, new parents who had NO CLUE as to what they were doing (I being one of them).
And now? She's still a mystery to me, but she's slowly unraveling before my eyes each day. And she's growing too fast! So smart, so persistent, so "talkative" and so very curious... did I forget to mention she's a beauty?
I still remember staring at her right after she was born and wondering how something so beautiful could have ever come from me. Here I had been expecting a little red, shriveled face and a funny looking cone head. But she blew me away, and she still does in more ways than one!
One year ago TODAY (the 27th) was my "due date." Vasilia decided to relieve her mommy a bit, though, and she was born a week earlier... something I will always be so thankful to God for! Here I was expecting to be two weeks late (just because I heard being "late" was so common for first time pregnancies).
Last week we had a house full of friends and family over for her birthday celebration. It was a tight squeeze, but we really enjoyed it (well, I can only speak for myself, I hope everyone else wasn't too uncomfortable with our close quarters).
Above are photos of Vasilia's new "birthday car" that my mom and dad got her for her birthday. Boy, was she thrilled to see it! It has been a big hit with our little girl (and her baby buddies). Even the Elmo sound effects don't annoy me too much! :D

It's Phronsie, from Fox (and your neighbor in the Newberg apt), not that you remember me but that's ok. Wow, she's a whole year old already? Our little boy is 2 months old, almost. Amazing how fast time goes by!
it is so crazy. after a while time just goes by so fast .... now she's six months, nine months, one year .... soon she'll be nine. and fifteen. and even thirty-two. :)
Happy Birthday Froggy!! It has been fun to follow her first year.
I remember having similar thoughts and worries before Basil was born...isn't it amazing how we transform into PARENTS somehow? Just to think ONE year ago you didn't know this little person at all or what to do with her for that matter!!
