Since I've been at my parent's house, I've been keeping up with American Idol. We don't have a tv at our own apartment... but I must admit, having the diversion of television has been--*blush*--kind of nice. At least during long feedings, when I'm bound to a chair (I have not yet mastered the "nurse from a sling" technique). Oprah has been another guilty pleasure... although last Friday when I was watching it the tv just randomly shut off and broke! It was probably for the best... I was trying to soothe a crying baby who needed a diaper change, yet I was too engrossed in the show (Oprah was helping women find the right jeans for the right body type-- VERY important stuff) to get off my tush and go. Then POOF! the tv shut off on it's own. I awoke from the hypnotic trance, looked down at my wailing baby, and thanked God for doing what I couldn't do for myself. Anyways, it was rather humorous. Please don't think less of me for indulging in Oprah (or American Idol) now and then. I find the whole Oprah-franchise-chaos-culture very intriguing.
Oh, speaking of American Idol, I have "Play that Funky Music, White Boy" stuck in my head. One of the contestants sang it last night (boy does Taylor have the moves!).
Today I put Vasilia in her sling and we went for a walk around the neighborhood. We're enjoying beautiful weather here in Portland today! It's so sunny, yet there's a gentle breeze that reminds me of coastal weather. I hope I was able to acquire a little bit of "color" on my cheeks... with all of the pictures I've been in lately, one thing I've realized is how extremely pale I am! I mean seriously, you know you're pretty darn white when you're newborn child (who's never seen the light of day!) is more pink and has more color than you do! Ack.
Well, this is just a silly post. It's been a while since I've just cut loose and blogged about nothing in particular. Just for the record, we're all doing well-- Vasilia, Job and I. Each day is a new learning experience. We'll be staying here at my parents' for just one more night, and tomorrow we'll "move" back to our apartment (ahh! I'm kind of scared). My parents have been a huge help. BUT, I think it's time to establish a new life in our own space. Job has the next month off until he starts his new job, so I won't be on my own completely (yay!). Hopefully by the time he starts work, I'll feel more confident in my mothering skills and have a routine down, etc.
Christos Anesti! Alithos Anesti! May the holiness of Lent be sustained and mingled with your post-Paschal joy, day by day!

Xenia Katherine...sounds like you're enjoying motherhood...what fun new days of getting to know eachother! Shoot. You already have a sling...that's what I was going to send you!!! Well, would you like another? I bought some celery green fabric to make it, but if you already have a green one I can use something else...let me know...I still want to make you something. Aren't those things great? I look forward to hearing about your lastest adventures. BTW, sometimes a little Oprah sounds nice (we don't have tv either) nothing wrong with a little postpartum indulgence...enjoy:)
I've been indulgin in Oprah, too, I have to admit. Pavlos is down for a nap at that time and I'm usually feeding Petros. I did watch the episode on the jeans last friday... I'm not watching today as Pavlos earned his reward of a movie which he is now watching.. and yesterday I didn't watch it because I was watching my taped 24 episode (which I started watching in the hospital and just HAVE TO KNOW how it will all end). This is the first time in years that I have watched a TV show regularly. Anyway, I sent you an email and we will come visit when you are home:)
It is good to have an update - I am glad you are all doing well !
Give Vasilia a hug from me, and make sure you rest lots and take care of yourself when you get home.
Katie--sit. Nurse. Relax. Don't worry about nursing in the sling yet! You don't have to be up and around yet, do you? So don't. Enjoy. You can nurse in the sling when it's baby #2, or 3 or 4. :-) Or when baby is a bit older and you have to make dinner while nursing. If you don't like it that you're watching too much television, think of this....I think of nursing days with fondness because I've never had so much reading time. Really. Lying on the bed, nursing, and reading was so relaxing. Of course, then you might just drift off yourself....but is that so bad?
What a lovely post! I can so relate.
So, do you have any jeans shopping advice for me? I need a new pair.
Alithos Anesti!
I loved your post. Sometimes it's just fun to peek into someone else's life!
Hugs to you.

Steve is home for a month!!What a treat!
Susan
So nice you got to hang out with you family for the first little bit :). Confession: I have never watched Oprah. I'm doomed! Now I'll never have the right jeans... ;)
