1. Total Number of Books I've Owned:
Somewhere around 150, I suppose (read "I've owned"... I don't have that many right now, or else my tiny apartment might burst). Maybe more if you include text books for school, etc. I'm bad at guesstimating. :)
2. Last Book I Bought:
On Sunday I bought Father Herman: Alaska's Saint by F.A. Golder, Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future by Fr. Seraphim Rose (I read my dad's copy and had to get one of my own) and Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment.
3. Last Book I Read:
Can't remember. I've been reading the same book since Christmas (it's an absolute tome). But when I'm done, I can say Father Seraphim Rose: His Life and Works.
4. Five Books That Mean A Lot To Me:
1. Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future (I'm sounding like a broken record)
2. Youth of the Apocalypse (the first book I read about Orthodoxy as a young 14-year old...
first book Job read about Orthodoxy as well!)
3. Father Arseny by Vera Bouteneff
4. Gender by Frederica Matthewes Green
5. More Spirited than Lions: An Orthodox Response to Feminism by Sarah Elizabeth Cowie
All of these books are significant to me because they've helped me make sense of this world. They've helped me develop as a young female Orthodox Christian, in a world that vies to give me its own skewed opinions and advice. Other books that I should've squeezed onto the list: The Bible, Thirsting for God in a Land of Shallow Waters, Touching Heaven, The Chronicles of Narnia, and of course the book I am currently captivated with...
5 People I Will Infect With This Meme: Laura, Christina, Meika, Phillipa, The Lake Oz Fic Chick

So, we could say you like reading Father Seraphim Rose? :) I especially enjoyed reading the chapter in ...The Religion of the Future on the charismatic movement. My family started going to a Foursquare church when I was 15, and I even attended a Foursquare bible college for a bit. Never did speak in tongues though, I guess I was never "Spirit-filled". I felt like it was a club I didn't know the password to. Now I'm glad. Have you read God's Revelation to the Human Heart? I really liked that.
I haven't read Youth of the Apocolypse yet, but it's on my must read list. It's interesting, coming from a skater punk sort of back ground.
Thanks a lot and congratulations again!!!
I've never read Father Seraphim Rose. But, I see he comes highly recommended.
I bought "Youth of the Apocolypse" for my son, I should borrow it from him and read it.
Great list!
