Might have to make a million... shirts, that is.

Last week I finished my first "just for me" sewing project. A long time ago I was charmed by this shirt made by Carol of "Kidding Around". I thought "If I ever have a sewing machine and get back into sewing, I'm going to do that..." After my quilt spree last February, and several other fun projects, I remembered the pattern and thought I'd go for it. I bought some cute cotton fabric to go with it, but decided to make a "practice" shirt with some fabric scraps and an old thrifted pillowcase. Once I have my second (third, fourth, fifth...) shirt completed, I'll try and post pictures of them.

It took a little patience and seam-ripping escapades, but finally I got it done. The result was better than I had imagined! Now, I'm just about done with my second shirt (made with said cotton fabric). In fact, I would be finishing it up right NOW, but the needle broke on the sewing machine. Guess where I'm going tomorrow? Yep... kids, get in the car, we're off to the fabric store!!!

Meanwhile, puzzle pieces litter our living room floor and a mountain of laundry needs to be folded... surely I have my priorities straight, right? There's nothing like getting lost in a creative project, though... Lord have mercy! Tomorrow I'll clean. Maybe.

In other news, lots of lovely babies have been born or are about to be born very soon, it seems. April and May are quite fruitful months... I can bear witness to that myself, as both of my kids are spring babies. Tonight I got to hold a sweet little 8 week old boy... OH! I melted. What a sweet heart. Susy just grew up too fast. Literally. In 6 weeks, she went from a teeny 6 lb. 14 oz. newborn to a walloping 15 pounds (or so it seemed... maybe I'm exaggerating). My friend's daughter was the same way, and I remember her saying she felt cheated of having a "teeny tiny newborn". hehehe. I'd have to agree.

Thanks also to everyone who commented with helpful insight in my last post. In regards to my future school plans... I can only shrug, wide-eyed and pray for God's guidance in this whole decision-making process. We'll see!!! Plenty of blog fodder in and of itself.

We all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends! Perfect weather, great conversation and time spent with lovely people, and lots of bbq... I'm not sure it could've been much better than that! Vasi had a blast playing with her cousins and pals... it's amazing to watch her grow more and more independent and start playing really well with her buddies. Meanwhile, little Dooze is teething a ton... requiring lots of cuddles and patience. She's also becoming very assertive in her old age (hehehe), and trying her very best to "boss" big sister around. Who knew? :D

For now, I really am beat, and I need to scoot off to bed.

And, for the last time this year, Christ is Risen! Have a lovely feast day today and tomorrow!

Ooo... I can't wait to see your shirt! I checked out the link -- what a pretty style, very "you". You go, girl!

I remember my sewing instructors guide for when to change your sewing machine needle: a new one for every project. Sharp needle and good thread (like Gutterman or Mettler polyester) and you can't go wrong -- or at least, not very :) I keep about 20 new needles (a few different sizes) in my sewing kit.

I still want to make a skirt/shirt set for Dia. One of these days...

Awesome, can't wait to see the fruits of your sewing labor.

My newest Goddaughter is a Foster mom, and I got to babysit her newest baby at one week + 2 days. Sigh. I just stared at him and he stared back at me.

What's a teeny tiny newborn? Xavi was 9 even AT BIRTH, LOL! Aria was born a month early (March 12th instead of April 12th, thus why I've been absent of late) and was 7 lbs 2 oz...

Cool shirt, if I could sew worth anything I'd ask for the pattern, but I'm just not crafty enough with sewing...
