Fridays

There seems to be a bit of problem at our home when Friday rolls around. Namely: there is nothing to do. I have the day off of work, and Job even gets out of school early. Yet the afternoon and evening hours provide little to no recreational options.

What do you do Friday nights? I'm curious to know.

Petros laughs at me, but come Friday night I have to go out somewhere. It goes back to when I was young a footloose and fancy free.
I just cant stay home on a Friday night. My kids will attest to this!

uhm, yeah, we don't really do anything on friday nights either. usually, my parents go out to dinner in northh portland and then stop by our house after they eat. usually we don't do anything because doing stuff can sometimes be expensive and we have to find someone to take care of pavlos. sometimes we go wild and rent a movie:) usually paul is just tired from working all week and he just wants to stay home and relax. sorry we are the lame-o don't do anything married couple:)

Sorry- you are probably genetically disposed to unexciting Friday nights! However- I still think these are fun options:

1. Bundle up- go on a walk together to a local coffee shop, or 7/ll run/ or lo/cal icecream!!

2. Go to the Library- check out some movies/ pop some popcorn at home and enjoy !

3. Look through your favorite cookbook- and pick out a special meal and cook it together. ( Better yet- invite someone over to share it with you.

4. On a clear night- drive around the city- the lights are beautiful-especially over the waterfront.

5. Always bake a treat- fill the apartment with yummy smells- that
says: "Yay it is Friday and we are together!!!"

6. Check out what's going on at GFU- plays/concerts - Your lucky to live so close.

7. Post baby- play tennis together!! before you know it- baby will shag the balls for you!

8. Whatever you do.....please don't pass on this genetic disease of doing nothing together on Friday night. I think you should plan now what your Friday night tradition will be- because it really is a good thing to do and your kids will always remember it.

Your mom is so sweet, what great suggestions :) sometimes we stay home too, although A and I usually watch a movie or have our neighbor over and stay up too late. if we're not home we're at some event like a family birthday dinner or something. i like to get out of the house WITH Aaron on friday nights. we also like to do something as a family in the late afternoon and then come home which makes bedtime routines easier.

fun post, thanks for asking.

Susan,
Oh, I love it! I'm so glad you have maintained your youthful, adventurous spirit. That's wonderful, considering even us "youthful" folks don't even take the time to stop and have a nice time out and about :)

Christina,
Yeah... MONEY is what it all comes down to, it seems. We are lame-o, too, don't worry. Perhaps if we ever get this "young parent/ young adult" thing going, we can hold the get-togethers on Friday nights? Or every other Fri. night for that matter. :)

Momma,
I love your sweet suggestions. You are always so optimistic, and ready to offer fun options :)

1. We actually did take a walk Friday night... but Steve doesn't like eating or spending money on coffee/ ice cream (plus, it's a fast day for him, so he couldn't have any anyways). No 7-11 either! boo hoo :(

2. Library is closed by Friday evening.

3. Cooking a nice meal sounds fun... maybe we'll try this :)

4. Hmm... we'd have to drive clear out of Newberg to see any pretty night time scenery...

5. Bake Friday yummy treats: a good idea... I'm still trying to be "good" though, and Steve wouldn't eat them.

6. Money

7. tennis sounds fun :)

8. We'll try to establish some routine. Hopefully when we live closer/ IN Portland we can develop a routine and actually INVITE people over.

It's never too late to be cured of Friday night syndrome, Mom! Go on a double date with Petros and Susan-- let them show you a good time :) heheh

yeah, go on a date with my parents... .that would be fun. i like that idea:)

and maybe we will have some sort of young family friday night cheap option out there for us. definitely not opposed to the idea. and we love to have people over for dinner... just not right now:)

I like the double date idea!

I tend to scrapbook, and maybe we watch some TV, or read.

It would be fun to go out with your parents...we are very low key. We usually go to Overlook Cafe, which is owned by a greek!Surprise!!
Maybe we can set something up.
